QuestionIs the piece that screws into the middle a magnet? I want know if I can securely place a phone or tablet completely vertical without fear of it falling forward.

- Answer No, it is not magnetic. The grey pads are a nice grabby silicone but would not prevent it from tipping forward.

- Answer Yes, I was also confused. But if you look, you have to select between the two types, the same way you would select between colors or sizes on an item. Strange way to sell since yes, they are two completely different stands. :/
