It functions as a standard recording device in Windows. As long as the software you're capturing with recognizes other sound devices, it will work fine with this.

Both Windows and Mac computers have built-in dictation software - just search "Windows voice dictation" or "Apple voice dictation" into your favorite search engine for instructions.
