Yes there are several ways to make a casserole. Combi feature has convection and micco combined or you can micro and use the grill feature to brown the top. I recommend the combi and then the grill to finish the browning. Really all work pretty well for a small unit like this. On Thanksgiving we did the ham with combi and grill and turned out great!

A 10 inch rectangular dish would not have room to turn, it would probably be fine to remove the turntable and use a wire rack (provided) to allow airflow around the dish.
