“Can this microwave be installed in a cabinet as a built in? I'm assuming so since they sell a trim kit. I found out the other Samsung countertop convection microwave was not suitable as a built in according to the Owner's Manual.”

Yes, I installed mine as a built-in using Microtrim instead of Samsung's manufacturer trim kit.

Please try again later.Yes, we also purchased this with the intention of building it in just under the countertop in our island and the drop down door would work perfectly. How can I find out about this surround? If I install the surround, can I eliminate the 7.875 inch clearance above the microwave? (The sides and bottom are okay.) Otherwise, when the door is open, it is too low. Or...can we install it without the clearance and just use is as a microwave as I have a convection oven and a convection toaster over so I really don't need another convection appliance . Help! I really like this microwave.

I only found out after the oven was delivered that this oven required 4" clearance on either side and 7.5" above the oven if installing in a wooden (flammable) cabinet. I don't believe the oven vents out the back or front at all, and there is no solution or vent for heat dissipation included with the oven.
