Thanks for the question. The ME16H702SES and other Samsung Over the Range Microwaves are designed to be mounted under standard 12-13" deep cabinets to allow for the air to exhaust through the concealed vent on the top front of the unit. - Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is ok, mine were always mounted to the upper cabinet like you. The air will circulate just fine. If you have it vented to the outside it can vent from the back via the top or back vent, there is an adapter plate. If you do not vent to the outside then it vents out of the front grill, but all it is doing is taking the hot air from the cooktop and blowing it out towards the ceiling so it really aint doing much to begin with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Vent holes extend beyond standard 12" deep wall cabinet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need it to stick out a inch so the air can escape.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I mounted mine under a cabinet and it sticks out far enough from the face of the cabinet that the grill is not obstructed. If your cabinet is designed to be the same depth as the microwave, you should probably either install it with a gap behind it, or look for another microwave
