“replacing a GE with Samsung I am looking at this to replace a GE spacemaker xl1800. My current microwave dimensions are 16 13/32in x 29 7/8in x 15 1/4 in, 1100 watts and 1.8 cuft. Is this samsung model a good fit as a replacement? Also, will the mounting hardware used for the GE work for the Samsung or will new hardware need to be purchased. One more thing.....is the handle metal or plastic? My GE was plastic and melted off the microwave.”

I don't recall the dimensions but as long as they are within like 1/8 of an inch, I know ours wasn't exact but it worked. The handle is metal and the hardware to hang it comes with it in the box. Our 2009 GE microwave hardware did not match the holes at all and we just took the old stuff down and installed the new stuff.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just replaced a GE Spacemaker microwave with this Samsung - the fit was perfect. The new oven comes with its own mounting kit. You will need to remove the old mounting and replace it, but it comes with a paper template that makes the drilling easy. You will probably have to relocate the mounting holes on the top of the unit, but there is also a template for that, The handle is stainless steel - not likely to melt or discolor. The vents at the top of the old microwave were grease collectors - this has no louvers.
