A:AnswerSamsung recommends mounting the SMH1816W from the bottom of a cabinet that is at least 30" from the cooktop, which would put the bottom of the microwave about 13" above the cooking surface, so your 14" clearance is fine.
Thanks for the question,
Ms. Samsung
A:AnswerI just had this unit installed today. I personally would not reccomend a brighter buld, even if it would fit. The dim bulb that is in there got extremely hot with in 30 minutes of installation, that is with the light being on for that amount of time.
I would suggest not to put a brighter bulb.
Also my unit is extremely loud. It sounds as loud as my old unit right before it died.
Good luck.
A:AnswerThe SMH1622W should come with the installation kit. If yours did not, please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG for assistance.
Thank you,

A:AnswerThe mounting kits are not universal. I replaced a 10 year old Kitchen Aid brand. The mounts were very different, although the new install was fairly straight forward and easy steps.
A:AnswerMost Samsung over the range microwaves measure 29-7/8" wide to fit the standard space above a 30" range. While the height and depth vary slightly depending on capacity and the different design elements, they're approximately 16-1/2" to 16-15/16" high and 15" to 16" deep without the door (about 17" to 18" deep with the door). The SMH1816S is 29-7/8" wide by 16-15/16" high by 15-1/8" deep without the door and 17-5/16" deep with the door.
I would suggest contacting your local Best Buy Appliance Associates for assistance selecting a model that best meets your needs, based not only on the dimensions, which are all within a fairly standard range, but also on the features like Sensor Cooking and the pre-programmed recipes and settings.

A:AnswerThank you for your interest. The SMH1816S is made for use in the U.S. and requires a connection to a 120V/60 Hz/20-amp power supply. I would suggest calling 888-BEST BUY for assistance with products that are suitable for use in the U.K.

A:AnswerThanks for the questions. The SMH1816S is 15-1/8" deep without the handle, and is designed to be mounted under a standard 12" deep cabinet. The hidden vent is located on the top front edge of the microwave that sticks out from the cabinet, so if viewed from above the vent grill would be visible.

A:AnswerI also replaced a Sharp Carousel OTR microwave with the Samsung model. I was glad to see Sharp out of the microwave market (don't even know if they are still in business). I had mine in for repairs twice over 10 years before it finally died.
I will say that I prefer Sharp's mounting bracket to Samsung's. This model required not only the wall mount bracket, but it also requires you to drill two holes into the bottom of the cabinet you are mounting it to. It is clumsy to remove the old micro and install a new one, so I would definitely recommend that you elist the help of a friend to help you install it. I don't think that is possible for only one person to install it without risk of injury or damage.
A:AnswerThe filter can be removed. It requires removing a couple of screws and taking off the grill at the top front of the microwave. I don't think this was really explained in the owner's manual.
A:AnswerI don't believe so, but there's no need for an extra vent. The microwave also acts as a vent hood. The microwave also easily converts from an outside vent setup to a recirculating vent setup.
A:AnswerThe microwave comes with a metal bracket that mounts to the back wall. Upturned hooks on the bottom of the support the bottom back edge of the microwave. There are then two bolts that support the microwave from the cabinet above it. The enclosed templates show you where to mount the bracket and drill holes for the bolts, vent, power cord.
