“How does microwave accomplish low power When selecting less than 100% power, how does this oven do it? My current oven cycles 100% power on and off and I think this method is useless. If you set it for 2 minutes at 60% cook power, it simply cycles 100% power on and off so the power is on 60% of the time. I won't buy another oven that operates like that. I want one that actually reduces the power of the microwaves for the entire cook time.”

Like most other microwaves, the SMH9187 cycles the magnetron on and off as needed to accomplish lower-than-100% power level settings. Thank you for your interest, Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The magnetron (unit that produces microwaves) only has two settings: on and off. At anything less than 100% power, it cycles on and off for a cumulative effect. So for example, if you put in on 50% power for one minute, the unit will cycle on and off every few seconds for a total of 30 seconds during that minute, or 50% of the time. This is effective and all microwaves work this way.
