this unit works fine but not impressed with the menu operation. actually had to open the manual on this one. does cook very fast and has a nice humidity monitoring feature to calculate evaporation and adjust cook times. i would probably not buy this same model again.

We bought this microwave as part of a kitchen remodel and liked the reviews we'd read about the Samsung and its rating in Consumer Reports. We have used the microwave for a couple of weeks now and found it to be all the things that we bought it for: easy to use, powerful, spacious, attractive and reasonably priced. Even the 5-speed vent fan is no noisier than our old microwave (one feature that garnered negative comments in reviews) on the highest setting. We like having five different fan settings. We're very happy with our purchase and the excellence of Best Buy's ordering and shipping system.

    Great OTR microwave

This is my second unit in 2 homes. Despite others saying unit is not reliable, I've never had any problems with it and one is used in a rental, so stands up to abuse. Attractive features include - 400 CFM fan, beats out all others on the market and does work better - Fan has delayed off so you can run it for <user selectable> mins after cooking - Unit remembers last fan speed (5 avail) - Above range light is much brighter than previous design - Can program the light to come on and turn off at <user definable> times daily - Many auto cook/reheat settings I haven't and probably will never use - High wattage - Removable rack to cook more food when necessary - Can disable turntable Unit looks elegant and is also one of the shortest units out there. Negatives include the blue display which is hard to match if not using all Samsung appliances, as well as the stainless handle which becomes hot when using the range below. Though this must be true of all such designs. Install was easy, even though I had to drill through granite backsplash with diamond tipped bits. Instructions are great. Last, the price can't be beat. In fact, it's usually out of stock at BB and Lowes.

    Very good oven

I'm enjoying this microwave oven. Looks really nice over our stainless gas range. The sensor settings are working well and are very convenient. Defrosting is amazing... about half the time of our old Panasonic. Fan is really loud, but it does a good job. My only complaint is the over the range light. It is pretty dim compared to the hood I had before. Maybe there is a fix for this?

Worked great, but only lasted a year

While the microwave was working, we were very pleased with it. We didn't use any of the auto-cooking features (which use the humidity sensor), but for basic use, we were very happy with this microwave. It is powerful, spacious, stylish, and easy to use. The exhaust fan works well, and I like the ability to set a timer for shutting off the fan. One minor complaints to note: much of the metal exterior to the microwave is thin and pliable metal, so one must be careful not to dent the microwave during installation. After 12 months and 2 weeks, we started getting the error "SE," which means there is a key stuck. I perused the user reviews, and it appears this is a somewhat common issue. The warranty expired after 12 months, so we obtained an estimate for repairing the issue. It may cost nearly as much to repair the stuck key as the microwave cost new. I contacted Samsung, and they have agreed to extend my warranty and repair the issue under warranty. Thus I'm giving 3 stars (rather than 2) and giving a guarded recommendation for this product. It's a nice microwave, but the reliability might be a concern.

    Very powerful microwave

My wife and I bought this microwave both for it's rating and stainless finish and have been extremely happy with it. Pros: The microwave is very powerful and heats food faster than any other unit I've ever owned. The exhaust is easy to reposition based on whether or not you have a vent over your stove (we don't). Controls are simple and easy to use. The interior space is huge and allows our rectangular dinner plates to actually spin around which our last unit didn't, and the additional of a shelf inside allows you to heat 2 plates at the same time. The exhaust and light are both adjustable in intensity allowing you to pick the setting that works for the application. Cons: Installation required you to mount a bracket on the wall and drill 4 holes through the cabinet which required some careful layout to accurately line up. The stainless finish is a fingerprint magnet and the buttons feel like the need firm presses in the right spot to engage.

I bought this microwave because for the price it has one of the most powerful fans (400 CFM where most are 330 CFM or less). I have the air recirculating in the house and it works very well at removing the steam/moisture/smell. It is loud when at its highest setting but nothing that I would not use it because of. So far it has cooked quickly and evenly and you really can't beat it for the price. We had a handyman install it for us since we did not have an over the range microwave before so I am not sure how difficult it is to install. It matches our Kenmore range just fine.

This is the first review I have ever written, however, I ALWAYS read the reviews before making important/large purchases. So, I decided after purchasing this microwave I would review it to help someone else! I bought it online and although there was a tiny issue with delivering the product, that was the only hiccup in the process. My husband is pretty handy and I read directions really well, so as a team, the installation was pretty easy. We only had a hood before, so my husband had to install an outlet, which actually was very easy. After careful consideration of the provided template, we measured and leveled and measured and leveled and were really nervous about trusting the paper template BUT we went with the instructions and it worked perfectly!! In all, it took us about 3 and 1/2 hours and thats with many interuptions from our 2 small children. As I said before, my husband is very handy, he has a lot of tools, the laser level and stud finder and drill bits, so that made it all easier. You need 2 people for the install especially at the end when you have to lift the microwave onto the bar to mount it. If you are slightly handy, have tools, and can read directions you can install this microwave. Once installed it works GREAT! The fan has 5 speeds, which can get loud on level 5 but I mean it is level 5 and it works really well. Really happy with the microwave and it works and looks GREAT!

We replaced an old GE that died. This has plenty of room on the inside and very easy to install. Fan works great and is quite compared to the GE. It has much more power on low then the GE on high.

I bought and installed this microwave last week. The back panel for installation is 2 inches high and fits at the bottom of the microwave behind it against the granite/tile, so I had to make holes in the granite to install it. It look nice and has full features with strong fan (5 levels). The under lighting for stove top is not bright enough. Overall, it's a nice product, but not perfect.

Our GE Profile Microwave died, and rather than replacing the Magnotron (again), I started researching for a replacement. I quickly decided on Samsung as we love our frig and washer/dryer that are Samsung. We looked at the 1.8 cu ft and 2.0 cu ft models, and picked the 1.8. It looks great and was simple to install. It is definitely more powerful than our previous microwave, so that will take time to get used to. Overall we are very happy with it.

Very good microwave. Big and sensors really cook the food well without drying it out. Cooks evenly. Lots of power too. Design is attractive. Light below is ok but could be brighter. Fan works well. Easy to program and use.

I think the microwave works great & looks great. The price is reasonable for a consumer reports number one and stainless steal. We mounted it over the stove fairly easily. The stainless steel looks nice and I like the features it has. The only thing I do not care for is the middle rack it comes with. It is completely removable, but we never use it. It just gets in the way and only small things fit below it.

Pros: Installation was easy and quick. Possible to do with one person but much easier with two. Cooks so much faster than my counter top model. Incredible! Looks great even with our Frigidaire Gallery stove. Seems to match style and design to any brand of stove. Easy to use all features. You can get this for around $225 so wait for a sale or ask for a price match from another retailer. Cons: The exhaust fan is very noisy at any speed and seems ineffective. On its highest speed it couldnt vent steam from a boiling pot of water. Cooktop light is better than nothing but is really only effective as a nightlight. However, I knew all this from other comments online so no suprise with either of these issues. These complaints seem standard with most microwaves in this price range. Still worth the price we paid.

My husband and I have had this microwave for about 30 days now. It works better than the old microwave we had before this one. I read another person said this unit quit working after 6 months, so let's hope that doesn't happen for us. It actually heats up the food faster than any other unit we've owned and it's very quiet. The only thing we have a problem with is that it is a little loose, and we can't seem to tighten it. The buttons are also a little hard to press. Other than that, it seems to be a great unit. I like the various light and fan settings. It also matches with all my other stainless steel appliances from another brand.

Heats well and evenly. Had a bit of an issue with the top template during installation, the support holes in the bottom of the cabinet above did not line up correctly, and I had to elongate them to get the hanging screws to engage.

A lot of bang for the buck.

I bought this microwave based on its top-rating in Consumers Reports. It has not disappointed. It looks sharp and it's far-more powerful (and therefore cooks faster) than the GE it replaced. My son and I installed it in less than an hour, thanks to the fact that we were able to use the old microwave's wall bracket and holes drilled into the cabinet above--who'da thunk these things are standardized? It has most of the popular bells and whistles, more than a reasonable person would ever need...and that stuff you read online about how the stove light is placed too far back is a lot of baloney. One negative, though, lest you think I'm a shill for Samsung: you have to have the owner's manual in hand when you want to use any of the presets. Each preset has a numbered sub-menu representing the available options for that function. When you use a preset, the microwave asks for an option number that you will know only if you have memorized several pages of charts in the manual, or you actually have the manual in hand. After a month of use, I'm starting to learn the codes now--I can warm up my coffee without any help.

Need to have carasel and plate in when testing!

Please be aware - WHEN RUNNING UNIT, MUST HAVE THE CARASEL AND PLATE IN THE MICROWAVE or it won't run properly. In my 1st attempt to test the unit I received a loud buzzing and a bluefish-orange flicker after 5 seconds (all 4 tests did the same); called customer care (which answered on 3rd ring - no waiting :)), but they never heard of the problem so I bought it back. In the store I insisted they try the replacement and the same happened! The CS rep put the carousel and plate in and no problems - same was true when testing the original unit. Sounds like many reviewers have stated the unit didn't work out of the box and/or they got a burning smell - how many tested like me without the plate - WHO KNEW!!?? So after all this running around, 5 hrs, I won't hang it and use it fully until tomorrow - WANTED PEOPLE TO HOPEFULLY LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!

I bought this microwave in 2012 & I have already had to repair the door and now the keypad. Apparently the keypad stops working and gives a 5E or SE error due to build up on the keypad electronics cables. Samsung is aware of the issue & will repair it outside of the 1 year warranty however if I knew that I was going to have this many problems with this microwave (I have had a spare microwave sitting on my kitchen table for too many days), I would have never purchased this item.

    Great microwave...

This weekend i had to replace a microwave that probably came with the house i just bought (built in the early 90's). The looks of this microwave had caught my eye prior to mine breaking down. And I already knew this was the one i would go for because i previoulsy researched online reviews, and the general consensus was positive. The default vent exit is towards the back and top of the microwave, just like my prior one. The exisiting vent adapter i had matched right up to the Samsung. I was also lucky that the top mounting holes used on my GE microwave matched up exaclty also. The installation instructions were clear and the install went pretty smooth. I like the fact there is 6 fan speeds on the exhaust fan. The fan is a major improvement than my prior micowave because the air current blowing out of the exahaust port outside my house is alot stronger than it was. on level 3, my wife can see the majority of steam from a medium pot of boiling water being sucked out. before she said she could see the steam crawl it's way around the old GE microwave.
