Hi JohnnyT! The SWA-9100S Rear Speakers will need to be connected with the provided speaker wire to the included wireless receiver module, which can be placed within 33ft of the soundbar. It does not need to be unobstructed however certain objects may cause interference with the wireless signal. ^Tim
