If you are trying to listen to your TV audio through your headphones, you should attempt to pair to the TV and not the sound bar. On the other hand, if you want to stream audio to the soundbar, then you can pair, ie your Pandora music from your smartphone to the soundbar. In my case, I wanted to listen to the TV audio through my earphones and had some difficulty pairing my Curved Samsung 55" SUHD TV with my Bose QuiteComfort earphones . I found that first turning on earphones and putting them in "ready to pair mode", then turning on the Samsung TV and placing it into pair mode worked. On TV go to sound menu and switch to Bluetooth and hopefully your device will pop up on the pair menu, select pair then it should connect. If pairing does not occur, you may have to turn the tv off and on again and repeat the process. It is important to be within about 6' during the pairing process but after pairing the connection remains,in my case up to about 18'. It seems like after the initial pair, subsequent pairs are a little more seamless. The Samsung TV Bluetooth handshake is a little finicky, but the J4000 soundbar picks up my streaming signals much better.
