“Do the words (e.g., Hello, HDMI, etc.) do they stay displayed the whole time the unit is on or do they disappear after a certain amount of time? If they do disappear is the time period configurable?”

They disappear after certain time and when you push the button to get more volume or go to another source for TV volume
