You can do either way. On one Samsung TV, I have it sitting just underneath on an entertainment center. In the bedroom, I mounted it beneath the TV on the wall. I assume it would work with Alexa but haven't tried.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You don't have to mount it. I have mine sitting in front of TV. As long as your TV is on a small stand up about 3 inches, the bar shouldn't block the picture. As far as Alexa goes.... there are 3 ways to connect to this. One is using your Digital Output if your TV has one for sound, 2nd is mini 1/8" stereo jack for input and then 3rd it has Bluetooth for Phones or Tablets.
