“i have a philips 47 inch lcd hdtv ,it is around 7-8 years old . it does not have one of those square toslink inputs ,it has the red and white ones and a black spdif out , will this model soundbar still work or is there one that would work? prefer digital”

Yes it has a aux input for a 3.5mm headphone jack. You could get an RCA to head phone jack adapter.
