Hi Tyler! The additional wireless rear speaker kit connectivity range can vary based on a number of factors that can interfere with a wireless signal. The closer you can get the transmitter to the soundbar, the better. Each rear speaker will wire to a transmitter base, which will require power. Simply unplug power from the transmitter to disconnect from the soundbar when you would not like to utilize the rear speakers. ^Tim
