• Yes, the 18-1/2" depth includes the handle. The depth of the SMH2117S with the door but without the handle is approximately 16". Thanks for your interest, Ms. Samsung

• No - the handle is actually outside those measurements. I noticed this model has a big door and requires me to step back when I open it.
