Yes, it can be converted to vent outside. We just had that microwave installed over our new stove and there was an extra piece the installer asked if we wanted to keep even though he said we wouldn’t need it. I asked him what it was for, and he said it was for venting the microwave to the outside. Ours is against an interior wall, so we obviously would never have need for that piece.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Watched to Best Buy installers change the vent from outside to inside by opening a panel on the top of the microwave. Couple fasteners removed, plate opens up, turn the discharge in the right direction, put the plate back and reattach.
