QuestionI'm looking for a laptop to use primarily for college work but I'd also like to be able to play some games on it. Would this computer be able to handle some higher quality games?

- Answer It comes with an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX video card, so you should be able to run some higher quality games than on a regular laptop with the standard motherboard video card. However, make sure you check the specifications of the game you want to play to see if it's enough.

- Answer No, it does not have an optical drive. However, I also purchased an LG drive for about $40, plugged it into one of the USB ports and it was immediately recognized. Works like a charm!

- Answer You may want to purchase a geek squad warranty with an open box item. My wife and I ran into this same issue when we purchased a MacBook Pro. The BestBuy sales person said the laptop would come with the original manufacturer warranty. After about 5 months we started experiencing issues with the keyboard. We took it to Apple for repair and they informed us that the laptop was out of warranty. The warranty started when the original sale took place not when we purchased it open box from them. Apple was nice enough to fix it for free. I addressed the issue with BestBuy who insisted that the warranty started when I purchased from them. So I would check with the manufacturer before purchasing.

QuestionCan I connect my 21" desktop monitor to this laptop and can I position the laptop screen face down on a soft surface and type on the laptop keyboard?

- Answer It has an HDMI connector so, if your monitor does as well, you can connect it to the laptop. I would not put the screen down and use the keyboard, but that's just me. I guess you could... If you asked me, I would get a wireless keyboard, connect it to the computer via USB or Bluetooth, and then just close the computer and use your monitor and the keyboard.
