It seems to take time to make ice. The ice bucket seems smaller to me then others. But I would think it would make enough ice over nite to fill a small ice chest or two.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This ice making capacity of this refrigerator is our biggest complaint. It simply doesn't produce enough for a family of 4. We will fill up a couple of water bottles for kids' sports and won't get much into the 3rd one. And, as others have said, it is slow to make ice. I have also noticed that our ice comes out partly crushed when cubed is selected. That is only a slight annoyance. A bigger annoyance though is getting the ice tray out. It would seem, based on what I've been able to find via an internet search, is that we have an ice block somehow that has formed in our ice tray. However, we cannot get the ice tray/bucket out as it seems to be caught by the ice block. The suggestions I've found is unplug your refrigerator to allow the ice block to melt. Ahhh... no. That would waste all the food. This ice block, assuming that is what it is, might be contributing to the small capacity of ice making. Don't really know for sure.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The new refrigerators seem to be getting away from large ice buckets. The LG's are fairly small as well. Definitely intended to fill up occasional water or drink glasses. I even think the instructions mention not being able to fill up ice chests and that you may want to buy bagged ice for that.

It does make ice fairly fast maybe a tray twice a day (just a guess) but that wouldn't be enough to fill a cooler. If this is the only source you are counting on to fill your cooler I would look for another frig. We looked at several ice makers in several referigerators and they were all small. I think you might need to plan in advance to store up enough ice, but this model would probably take too long.
