It tells you when the door has been left open and some other things through the app.

It also mimics the refrigerator controls in a little more user friendly form on your phone. You should be able to download the manual from Samsng site and get all the details

The Wi-Fi allows the refrigerator to connect to our SmartThings app. Within the SmartThings app, there are many features including monitoring and controlling the refrigerator from your smart phone.
