“Does this fridge have to be setup close to sink? is it possible to install in kitchen and have water line running across the floor to an area either directly across or on other side of kitchen?”

I would not install along the floor if you have any possibility of mice - they love to chew through the lines !! I have mine across the room from the sink - but ran the water line (copper) through the ceiling - no show and no chewing on it !!
