The ice won't melt and if you lift up the front of the ice maker, the tray can be removed.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ice bin is easily removed from the fridge. It's not in the freezer because you wouldn't be able to get ice on the fridge door if it was below in the freezer. The ice maker works great on this fridge.
