“Has Samsung fixed their ice maker issues on the new French Door models or are we going to continue to have ice maker problems on the new Fridge? If they haven’t solved their ice maker issues I want to know before I waste my time.”

On the Samsung you have to purge it. Fill 2 gillions of water and dump it out , that's so it wont leak , and the icemaker 2 cup of ice and dump it out and ours worked fine. Before we did that the water would leak and the icemaker would not work correctly. But you have to wait 2 hrs before you can do the water and 4 hrs before the icemaker.
