• that's how I'm using it....monitor sits at home. laptop travels everywhere with me.

• Yes only if your laptop has a HDMI connection

• I currently use it as an extension of my screen with my Toshiba laptop. It works well, although jumping up from a 22 inch monitor to this took a little getting used to.
