“I bought this sound bar and woofer as an un-boxed item. When I hook it up to my Samsung it automatically increases volume to level 50 after a few minutes. Is it in some sort of display mode?”

The unit does have a display mode called "shop mode", Here's how to turn it off: While the sound bar is powered OFF, press and hold the Vol- (down) button until the display shows SHOP OFF. Hope this helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are two ways to turn Shop Mode off. While the set is powered off, press and hold the Vol- button until the display shows SHOP OFF. Re-initialize the unit (factory reset). While the unit is powered on, press and hold both the Vol+ and Vol- buttons simultaneously for about 6-10 seconds.
