“Can this soundbar be connected to a Optima projector via a stereo mini-jack-to-pin-jack cable, or another type of cable or adapter. I tried using an hdmi cable from the projector to the soundbar but can't get any sound.”

Your sound does not come from your projector. You need to use the sound bar as the middle man in an HDMI set up. The sound bar has bluetooth, hdmi, headphone jack, and optical.
