“Are the grates hinged?”

• The grates are not hinged, they entire top surface behind the controls is covered in 3 separate grates.

• Nope. Three pieces that lift off easily for cleaning underneath. In addition, if you are not planning on using the”smart” Wi-Fi connection, you can remove that black piece and cap it to make the back more streamline. We love the cooktop!

• Not sure what you mean by hinged grates.but they have dimple imprints so they wont slide over on you
