Thanks for the questions. The FE710DRS has a bake element in the bottom of the 5.9 cubic foot oven cavity and a broil element on top. The Flex Duo partition does not have a heating element, so when it's in place, the upper oven is heated by the top broil element and the lower oven is heated by the bottom bake element. Because of this, the options for using the upper oven include Convection Bake, Convection Roast and Broil; the options or the lower oven are Bake and Convection Bake. The Flex Duo oven is designed so there is virtually no transfer of flavors between the two oven compartments when the partition is in use, though there is some transfer of heat. Page 30 of the User Manual provides the minimum and maximum temperature range of each oven when the other is in use.
