“temp reading on panel when having a temp set of say 400 deg. and you open the door to turn or check the cooking and you close the door again it doesn''t change the temp reading and it seems to take a long tine to recover. had to turn off and reset and temp said 260 deg. had to reset temp. why and how can i corect this?”

It isn't unusual for hot air to dissipate when the oven door is open, and keeping it open for an extended period of time could cause the internal temperature of the oven to drop dramatically and take time to recover, requiring it to heat up once again. However, it should reheat to the set temperature on its own without needing to be turned off and on again. If yours is not, then service may be needed.
