“Will I have trouble connecting this TV to replace my 21 yr old non-HDTV that does not have any new applications? Do I need to call my Cable co. to install?”

If your cable box has an HDMI plug it will work, but I think a 21 year old set would not have one. Call the cable company and get a free upgrade. Tell the Paulina told you to call them so you could come to their store and pick it up in exchange for your old one.
