“Does the agitator just move clothes slowly? The machine makes a whooping/groaning noise while it’s washing. I’m used to hearing the agitator of my old machine go back and forth. This sounds like clothes are pushes through water with a canoe paddle”

No whooping noise as is quite quiet. Have your washer checked out.
