“Why are the clothes so "hot" when we take them out? The washer we purchased does not have the steam or sanitize settings. Yet when I open the door to take the clothes out they are very warm and steam does come out of the washer. It did this on both the cold and eco warm temperature settings. Is this normal? If so, what is it doing?”

You could have your tubes to the hot and cold water mixed up. Try reversing them and hooking up again.

The presence of steam may be normal depending on the difference between the temperature of the clothes/water and your laundry room, especially since the cold and eco warm settings may use hot water mixed with cold to achieve the goal temperatures, depending on your home's tap and water heater temperatures.
