In general, not specific to this model......I have had front loaders for 14 years now, no mold or odor at all. Main thing - leave the door as wide open as possible after each load. And I use powered soap vs. liquid, I have heard liquid laundry detergent has more inert ingredients that can cause odors because of the residue that breaks down, but maybe that has changed. Also don't use too much soap, I only use two Tbsp of powered soap for a LARGE load in my 5.0 cubic foot machine and my clothes are clean and come out smelling clean as well. Too much soap is hard on the washer anyway and inhibits the friction action that is supposed to clean your clothes during tumbling in the drum (excessive soap doesn't allow fabrics to scrub against each other, but instead glide over each other because suds are slippery, thus not 'scrubbing' the dirt off) - do research if you don't believe me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well, there is a spring-button at the door hinge that keeps the door ajar provided you don't close it after washing. I find that it can be a good reminder to keep the door open. To prevent mold issues: 1) Don't use too much soap; 2) Leave the door slightly ajar after wash while wiping away any excess water at the door/gasket; 3) Run 'clean washer' cycle every month or when the washer indicates.

I was told by my hair stylish who washes lots of towels that she never closes the door of the washer unless she is operating it. This way the water drys and it doesn't create mold. Not a professional solution from the manufacturer but it seems to work for me (and hairstylist) so far.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had another brand (Frigidaire) for 10 years and never had any odor or mold issue. I did do the periodic cleaning with bleach as per manual and i also left the front door slightly open to let air circulate.
