I am not an audio-phile, but I think the sound is just fine. TV has stereo Dolby Digital and surround settings along with an equalizer. There also are pre-set staged sound settings, i.e. "MOVIE" or "NIGHT". You may want a sound bar if you want the thing to really boom or magnify the surround effct, but I think most people will find the sound quite adequate.
