I experienced the same thing when setting mine up....you just have to keep playing with it until it looks good. I turned the contrast and the brightness settings up. If I remember, I think it also has a 'Mood' setting. It took me a few days of adjusting until I got it brighter and clearer. It seemed like I had it set where I wanted it, or it was good enough but I kept playing with the settings and it looks great now. Keep trying...you'll get it :)
