Yes, used plex with my own server in a different ZIP code. Works fine. provided your internet is up to it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have and it works fine but I prefer running Plex on a new Apple TV. I am not positive but I think Apple TV Plex has been re-written and because the Apple TV has a larger hard drive than the one in the TV the preformance is better.
