I've just installed the 49", and am wondering if that was a mistake also. Example: football action seems to judder, and so far the judder control doesn't seem to correct it very well. For example, hard to see football in flight on long pass or field goal. Best to compare 49" in a showroom against same action content on larger screen in same line. Disclaimer: I haven't yet tried all possible configuration of motion-related settings. Other than motion issue, picture is gorgeous (IMHO).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would go for the extra if you can. The 60Hhz refresh is still looks great and is great for gaming. But 120 is much crisper and I wish I would have sprung for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I feel compelled to update my previous response. My cable signal was going through my AV receiver (HDMI, in & out), and the digital video converter was on. When I disabled it, the flutter (or judder, or whatever it was) disappeared. So football kicks and passes now look normal, and basketball dribble is not distorted. The news ticker at the bottom of CNN went from a stutter to smooth as silk. Tennis serves do seem to have a bit of blur, but it's not disturbing IMHO. I haven't compared my 49MU800D (which is pretty much same as 49MU8000) against a 120 Hz model - ie. the higher screen sizes - so I still think best advice is to do so in a showroom. But make sure neither signal is being processed through a video converter - or if they are, that the settings (of which there are many possible parameters) are the same for each. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's noticeable, get the 55". I wish I had.
