“According to the Samsung site and the Best Buy site (nomenclature above) these are 5.1.2-channel not 3.1.2 as you say. I even called Samsung plus I talked to the in home advisor and mgr. at Best Buy. If they are 3.1.2 why didn’t they correct it?”

Hello Jazzcat9 - The HW-Q850T soundbar is 5.1.2. The sounbdbar alone is a 3.1.2 channel system with Dolby Atmos andAccoustic Beam 2.0 technology working as your Atmos speakers. When you connect the rear speaker, which is included you will obtain 5.1.2 channel sound. ^Cris
