Hi Puzzled,

The center oval (griddle) burner on the NX58F5500SS has a maximum BTU rating of 9500 and the flame height can be regulated by turning the burner control knob. The range of the height of the flame should be checked and adjusted by the gas installer to ensure appropriate size and color. For instructions on using the griddle to cook meats and other items, please refer to page 25 of the User Manual. Keep in mind that this is not a Power Burner, so if you'd like to sear steaks or other meats, cooking the outside more rapidly, you may want to consider using the 17K BTU right front Power Burner.

I have tried to grill hamburgers on the center part, but it too a long time. I don't think it is really made for that.
