“My counter top height is 35-5/8". Minimum height of this model is 36-3/16". Can range be successfully installed without leaving a gap underneath the overhang at either side of the stove? Can the legs be cut to avoid gaps where lip & counter top meet?”

I don’t see you can lower the height. The sides have a little overlap to cover the counter a bit.

From my recent memory, the feet of this stove are the simple screw-in type, and you unscrew them a turn or two in order to make the stove taller as needed. When they are firmly screwed all the way in to minimize the height, the feet are nearly flush with the bottom of the stove. Removing them entirely may make it slightly shorter, but not the 1/2" or more as you need. Plus, this may cause the drawer at the bottom to have clearance issues with your floor (just a guess).
