“The fan in the oven on this Samsung stove comes on whether we use the standard bake feature or the convection feature. Is this how it is supposed to work? Any other stove we have had has not the convection feature and did to have a fan.”

I heard from Samsung support. They told me that the convection fan is always on while the oven is coming up to temperature. When using the standard Bake feature, the fan turns off after the oven comes up to temperature. When using the convection Bake feature, the fan comes on for 10 seconds and then goes off for 30-40 seconds during convection baking.

This has resulted in food (Thanksgiving turkey, for example) being burned on the outside and undercooked inside. I checked the oven temperature with a thermometer sitting on the interior rack, and the interior temp was at times more than 50 degrees higher than it should be. Again, this was set on the regular bake, not convection bake, setting. I'm pretty sure our oven is defective.

This started happening a few week ago. I don’t think it’s normal. Sorry I can’t offer a solution as this is what I have been told by Samsung.

The circulation fan is visible, so we can see it run. The circulation fan runs continuously during the convection mode, while running 10 seconds every minute during non convection bake mode.

Fan will become operational once oven reaches set cooking temp. Fan will shut off if oven temp drops. Convection oven cooks 50 degrees hotter than a still oven. On my Samsung there is no option to bake or roast without fan. Also there is no true convection setting. Yours truly red seal chef for many years.

The internal cooling fan, which helps keep the electronics cool, and the convection fan, which is visible at the back of the oven and circulates heated air for more thorough cooking. The convection fan turns on and off at regular intervals and has a quiet, low humming noise. ^Jecca
