• Your TV will adjust to how the channel your watching broadcasts shows and commercials if you select 16:9 screen ratio, try selecting either Zoom1 or Zoom 2 if you want full screen all the time. You can do this using either the menu or tools buttons on your remote.

• It may be how the programming was filmed. It's usually recommended to have both the source (Blu-Ray player, cable box, etc) AND the television to be set at 16x9. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S
