“My tv is connected to the soundbar and everything sounds fine but when I want to play pandora or Nextflix (smart hub) sound only comes out of the tv speakers and not out of soundbar. Do I need another cable or where in settings would I be able to fix it.”

You need a receiver to send the audio through. Using an optical cable out of the TV and into the receiver is the best choice.
