Well the future is 4k, 5k, 8k etc. Although the networks at this point don't have many if any channels that are 4k rich this TV with still upgrade the current picture of 1080 to something close to the 4k. At least you'll be ready when all the channels are 4k. I grabbed an open box for $774.

Smart TVs refer to the platform or "operating system" for Apps like Netflix, Hulu, andd others. There are a lot of options based on how you'd like to interact with the TV, and picture quality. The JS7000 models are a great option for TV, gaming and movies. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. From what I understand there are few 4K channels that actually send out signal for 4K. I believe Netflix does, more will follow. I've read if you don't sit close to the tv even with 4K you won't notice the clarity. I did get a 4K tv as the price was $200 more and i hope to have it for a while. I assume in the near future i will be able to utilize the 4K more, but i do sit far away from the tv so it still probably won't matter too much.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This TV is so good for its price. The downside is that there's not a ton of 4K content but if you are good with...... finding 4K movies available online then you can start up your 4K adventure. 4K and smart TVs are 2 different things though. 4K (UHD) is the resolution of the LCD, 3840 x 2160 pixels, compared to HD, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. With 4K you are getting double the pixels, not 4 times! You are still certainly able to watch any resolution content from 4K to 1080 to 720! It will just upscale it, a fancy word for stretching it to fit the screen! What makes a Smart TV is the ability to use apps on the TV such as you would on a smart phone. They can access online content like movies or games. An example is being able to uses Netflix or Hulu on the TV without having to buy/use Chromecast, Kindle Firestick, or a gaming console! But you may be limited to the apps that are available to the TV. They have a sort of app store for each brand but if you aren't big on those features then you can stick with a non-smart TV although Smart TVs are now more affordable than ever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The viewing or clarity of movies etc. or pretty much everything is much better than a regular HD SMART TV.
