“Some channels/stations the pictures do not fill the entire screen while some others do, is this normal? Note: I am using a HD cable TV connection from my provider.”

Some broadcasts come in letterbox, where as others are transmitted in full screen.

You can choose from Fit to Screen, Zoom and Position, and Picture Size. Under Picture Size, you can change the size of the picture displayed on the TV screen to 16:9 Standard, Custom, or 4:3.
