“I have a VESA compliant mounting system. The holes in the back of of the tv are thread less. YouTube has a video where a person puts adapters/spacers in the holes, then the screws. How do I get those? Or should I just return the tv?”

The threads are recessed very deep in the holes you need to use longer screws.

Make sure you are using the proper spacers in the proper holes, the top and bottom are often different sizes.
