“The Samsung website lists the 50" QN90A as having "Wide viewing Angle" vs "Ultra viewing Angle." Does that mean that while it won't be Ultra, that it will still have some kind of filter to enhance the viewing angles to be wider than standard VA panels?”

You probably would not like a TV with the "Ultra viewing Angle" layers placed within the panel. The picture will have lass contrast and be slightly blurred. See photo for better description
