“Unfortunately we are now allowed to mount the tv above our mantle(rental agreement). Has anyone leaned the frame tv against the wall to give off the appearance of artwork resting against the wall? We wanted to try this but to see if others had.”

Actually no rental agreements can restrict this and the occurrence of normal wear and tear, which is covered by such actions as hanging pictures, mounting TVs, etc. I'd recommend checking your local municipal and state laws, and federal housing laws as most landlord take advantage of the tenants not knowing this.
