“Need more info about the stand. Is it not going to fit on a stand that is 34" wide? Have a 46" tv now and the base of the stand is 22" wide. So what it is sounding like is 9 more inches of screen requires 15 more inches of base. Can that be?”

In order to allow stability the base foot must be wider than the unit. My stand (wheeled cabinet) is also 34" wide and the last 1.5" or so of the TV foot on each side sticks off the edge. We are having no problem with stability. If you have small children you may want to consider a larger stand or wall hanging.
