We asked the Samsung guy about this before purchasing. He said that is not an issue. We've had the tv for a month so can't ansewer this definitively. For now we go on what we were told.

Please try again later.Long answer: Yes Short Answer: No To cause actual real permanent damage you would have to leave a static image on screen continuously for anywhere between 2000-2500 hours. That's about 3 months, of the same image, on the screen, without any movement at all, not going to happen. You may experience image persistence (which is non-permanent burn in) but that can be solved by simply leaving the TV off for around 10-12 hours. Image Persistence can be cause by leaving a static image on screen continuously for anywhere between 8-24 hours, it really depends.
